Richard Madete is a German national who has worked as a consultant or consulting engineer for the Rwanda Rural Development and Inter-diocesan Service (RDIS) for about six years, from July 2017 to November 2023. He was sent by the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) and 'Brot für die Welt' to help RDIS in its mission to support the work of RDIS in various fields of rural development.

During his six years of service, Richard has been involved in many projects and activities that have improved the lives of the rural communities in Rwanda.
Some of the areas that Richard has worked on and made a positive impact include:

• Capacity building: Richard has trained RDIS staff and Pastors on various topics, such as project management, monitoring and evaluation, gender mainstreaming, advocacy, and communication.
• Community development: Richard has supported RDIS in its efforts to improve the livelihoods and well-being of the rural communities, especially in the sectors of environment, agriculture, education and health.
• Advising the agriculture and environment sector of RDIS, which promotes sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices and natural resource management. Richard has helped to establish several environmental protection projects that introduce and disseminate improved seeds, fertilizers, and technologies, as well as to protect and restore the environment. • Partnership and cooperation: Richard has contributed to the strengthening of the relationship and collaboration between RDIS and its main stakeholders, such as the Protestant Church of Rwanda (EPR), the UEM, the local authorities, and the donors. He has participated in regular meetings and consultations, as well as in joint planning and reporting.

He has received a certificate of appreciation from the UEM, as well as an email of gratitude from the representative Bishops of EAR Church. He has also received positive feedback and testimonies from the beneficiaries of his work. He has finished his contract with RDIS in November 2023. He has thanked RDIS and its partners for the opportunity to work with them, and he has expressed his satisfaction and happiness for the results that he has achieved. He has also expressed his hope to keep in touch and to continue the friendship and collaboration that he has established with the people of Rwanda.

He left a mark of his work in Rwanda.
